Perhaps the inclusion of Junior teams in the Scottish Cup is a start to this process. Sounds like a good idea.
References :
Cracking idea... so the SFA will probably dismiss it out of hand.

Here's my theory. You take all the junior leagues and non senior set up's like the Highland League, whichever junior team wins the title of their local top division goes into a competition with the winners of each other league. The winner of this competition gets promoted to the 3rd Division, team finishing bottom of the 3rd drops back to the juniors, Highland League or whichever league is most appropriate for them.

There would be potential difficulties, but nothing that couldn't be ironed out.
We've all seen wee teams from the juniors doing reasonably well in cup competitions, and if they could be promoted to the senior leagues by winning a junior tournament it would give them a higher bar to aim for, and give the bottom senior team something to seriously think about.
References :
I have been wanting this all along, and it will happen, you see clubs in the Highland and Junior teams with bigger average crowds than the second division.

To save the clubs traveling the length and breath of the country it should be on a regional basis, with North, South, East and West leagues, and the winners of these leagues, go into playoff's, and possibly 2 teams go up into the 3rd division, with 2 going down into there Regional league.
References :
Me should be on the SFA board.

i think this may be the reason for some teams being in the scottish cup this year i hope they do make a sort of conference even with the winners of the east of scotland league , the highland league and the worst in the third in a mini league to see who gets the spot would be better than it is now but, i think the reason a lot of junoir clubs wouldn join is they still rule themselves the sjfa but having said that a lot of junoir clubs have better facilities i stay in midlothian and i no at least Newtongrange Star and Bonnyrigg Rose has function suites etc and i would imagine the bigger junoir cluns would have that as well i think theyre stadiums can be better than some 3rd divdion to.

i think they should at least do as ai said above but would also increase the size of the spl to 16 teams (the 16 teams playing twice a season ) b ut will never happens as teams like the chane of gate money of the of upto 4 times a season ) the only other teams with a sizeable travelling suppport are hearts hibs and aberdeen.) and promote 4 new teams into the sfl.
References :
Yeah a pyramid system is a great idea, there's some juniors and highland league clubs who have greater aspirations than the likes of East Stirling and Albion Rovers, these clubs have no ambition whatsoever. Clubs like Tayport, Pollok and Huntly deserve a chance in the football league set-up. There should definitely be relegation from the 3rd division.
