Low Sodium Diet Review

Sodium is virtually present in all the food that we eat. It is even found in the water that we drink. Actually, the body needs sodium to control blood pressure and blood volume. However, people consume twenty times more of the sodium needed by the body to sustain normal functions. High consumption of sodium normally leads to kidney stones and high blood pressure. It is even attributed to weight gain due to water weight since sodium promotes water retention. People’s reliance on processed foods is the main reason for the heightened levels of sodium in a modern diet. Consuming too much sodium or salt causes serious repercussions to health.
