I’m 51 years old and not very computer savvy and i would like too try my hand at playing on a NHL fantasy league. I don’t know anything about getting started, or that i might screw something up.
Well, you can sign up here http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/hockey and look for a league to join. There have also been some questions in the hockey section the past few days asking people to join their leagues, so you can try searching for those also. http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_result;_ylt=Ag3WUJ_3pkfKX1PdmFIkwMAnzKIX;_ylv=3?ps=2&p=join+my+fantasy+hockey+league&pn=&scope=subject&fltr=_en&tab=3&asktime=0&save_search=1&st=1
Once you have your team, it is a good idea to look at the scoring system-how you get points in your league ie goals, assists, +/-, PIM, et cetera, and determine which position, forward, defence, goalie is the most important and will get you the most points. After that, determine which players are the best(it is a good idea to make a list of your top choices before the draft, so you are prepared). There is a lot of draft analysis on yahoo to help determine who are the top choices, as well as a bunch of other websites such as espn, nhl.com, tsn.ca, rotowire…. After that, your league will have a live draft, so make sure you can make it. *In order to participate in the live draft, I think you have to have Flash installed and enabled on your browser. Not positive, but I believe so. Each member of the league will have an order to the draft, who goes first, second, third, and each member will have a short amount of time to choose a player, thats why its important to be prepared, and you will continue until you have filled your roster. Once you join, there is a lot of information on there to help you and to become familiar with it. Good luck.
The easiest way is to sign up for Yahoo free fantasy hockey. You can be assigned to a public league with an auto draft( the computer picks your team for you based on your player rankings). Go to the Fantasy tab on the Yahoo sports home page to get started.
Don’t sign up for Plus, unless you want to pay.
