Do I need insurance to run an organized football league for kids?

I’m thinking of running a flag football league for 10 year olds. Do I need liability insurance or can a disclaimer work. If insurance is needed what is the average price range. Thank you in advance!

While you do not need insurance to start your league, you would be stupid not to buy any. While you can force participants and their parents to sign a disclaimer, this is not considered a valid contract, as the law considers such a contract to be coerced. Therefore, if they sue you, the disclaimer will not hold up in court. Liability insurance can protect you in court, and you should purchase it unless you want to file bankruptcy in the near future.

Personally, I don’t know the answer, and no one here can answer if you don’t tell what state you’re in. But it will depend on state and local laws.
