Michael Vick drafted to Arena Football League. How do you feel about that?

After all that Michael Vick has been through, the dogs and stuff, he gets drafted to play AFL? That’s really bad, he doesn’t deserve to play football for any league or team for the rest of his life!

Arena Football League is perfect for Vick!Hope he never plays in the NFL.

  1. I dont like this guy, but he went to jail, he did his time that he was sentenced to, and still continues to do so with house arrest and community service, and probation, which pretty much controls your life and how you live it. He has paid his fines, and lost everything. I feel he is truly remorseful, and has shown it. Never once did he come out and say something like "they are just dogs" or anything callous like that. I feel his has paid his dues, and I firmly believe everyone deserves a second chance, as we are humans and are pretty stupid sometimes. If he screws up like this again, then yes, he should be done. Dont give a guy 10 tries like Darryl Strawberry got. If they dont realized the severity of losing it all the first time they have it taken away for a period of time, then they just dont get it, and dont deserve to have it.

  2. Its probably beyond his mental capacity to play in this league, but even convicted felons need to make a living.

  6. So is it your opinion that if a person is convicted and serve their time they should not be free to move on in live their life?
I think this is so wrong. If a person does the crime they should do the time but afterward they shouldn’t have to wear a scarlet letter for the rest of their life. Vick has a talent and it’s God given. The Bible tells the steward to not hide his talent under a bushel. He should eb able to play anywhere once he has served his time…NFL or AFL.
By the way, the BIble also so says "Judge not, for you shall be judge…"

  8. The Firebirds play in AF2, and the story has no credibility:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—The owner of a minor league football team that offered Michael Vick a contract told a newspaper he didn’t know about the publicity stunt and would not have approved it.

“I’m a dog lover and I don’t want anything to do with (Vick),” Albany Firebirds owner Walter Robb told The Times Union for a story posted on its Web site Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day, the team an arenafootball2 franchise, announced it had offered the 28-year-old quarterback a one-year contract at the league standard: $200 a week plus a $50 bonus for a win.

“That’s a joke,” Robb said. “Can you imagine him playing for $200 a week? I think (the offer) was a big mistake.”

The announcement was later pulled from the team’s Web site.

  10. it was actually a joke. the owner said that his offer of $200 a game and $100 a win was a joke. he said that he is a dog lover and wouldn’t have Vick on his team. I think that he should be able to play. they decided what the punishment would be for dogfighting and he payed it.

he had tha best season of his career. 20 pass td’s and 1000 yards rushing…who else could do that

Vick served his time. He should be allowed to work and play football when he is released. I’m sure you know somebody that been in jail. Should they not be allowed to work when released?

You need to site a source for your claim that Vick was drafted by the AFL. That league only recently figured out a way to resume operations in the 2010 and they haven’t held a draft or, as far as I can tell, scheduled one. I suspect that you have been duped by a nefarious prankster or you are intentionally spreading misinformation. All of that being said, it isn’t for you to decide what Michael Vick does or does not deserve.

i think beberoni has a point. he admitted to his crime, he didnt berate the dogs saying ‘oh who cares’.

he should be given a second chance and afl2 was the only league to offer him that chance. sure hes on probation, home confinement, pay fines and whatnot but hes still human. sure he may be a big-name superstar ‘worth’ shitloads of money when he was with the falcons but the afl2 dont have that kind of money so he should take what hes offered if he wants to play again. maybe if hes good enough hell move up to the afl then maybe back into the nfl. who knows what the future holds.

lots of superstars got 2nd chances… kobe, big ben, micheal jordan, super mario lemieux, wayne the great one gretsky, etc…

but then again lost of superstars didnt… pete rose, etc…

and yes i do realize the firebirds were joking offering vick $200/game + $50/win. being a big name that he is he would say add 6 zeros to the end of it and you have yourself a player. but if he wants to play ball again he should take what hes offered.

  16. When exactly did Vick show remorse for his crimes? When he apologized 1 time right before he was sentenced? The only time he apologized for what he’s done has been when it would get him leniency.

When did he take responsability for his actions and admit that what he did was wrong? After he lied for months about it, smoked pot while on trial and had all of his friends testify against him? He plead not guilty and continued to deny any involvement at all until it was proven that he was guilty. He changed his tune hoping to get less of a sentence.

He never learned from his "mistakes". He ran an illegal gambling ring for years, knowing it was wrong (his dad came out years earlier and told him to stop). He denied being involved and continues to lie until he had no other choice but to finally own up to what he was doing. He’s shown no remorse other than he was sorry for getting caught.

Pete Rose was denied because he gambled, Vick should be denied as well.
