The bow seems to have been invented by the late Paleolithic or perhaps early Mesolithic. The most ancient indicator with regard to archery in Europe comes from the Stellmoor inside the Ahrensburg valley north of Hamburg, Germany and date from the late Paleolithic about 9000-8000 BC. The arrows happen to be created from pine and consisted of a mainshaft in addition to a 15-20 centimeter (6-8 inches) long foreshaft accompanied by a flint point. There aren’t any known previous bows and arrows, though natural stone tips that appeared to be arrowheads were being crafted in Africa around 60,000 years ago. The most ancient bows recognized so far originate from the HolmegĂ„rd swamp within Denmark. In the 1940s, 2 bows were unearthed there.
